Call for papers: Special focus issue on COVID-19


The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) in collaboration with the Pharmacy Education announces a special global call for manuscripts related to educational and workforce challenges and responses to the global pandemic of COVID-19.

Manuscripts must be received in full, comply with journal guidelines and relate to the following educational themes:

  • Pandemic effects on academic and teaching faculty, student challenges related to equity and access to institutions and learning programmes;
  • Pandemic effects on learning behaviours, quality of provision and regulatory aspects of pharmacy initial education and training and continuing post-registration education;
  • Evaluated and researched innovative teaching and assessment designs in response to COVID-19;
  • Evaluated education and training of the practising workforce relating to the pandemic or impacted upon by the pandemic.

It would be helpful if authors could indicate where manuscripts relate to FIP Workforce Development Goals, such as (1) Academic capacity; (2) Foundation Training); (3) Quality Assurance; (8) Working with Others; or (9) CPD Strategies 

We will accept manuscripts that are descriptive in nature but there must be a clear evaluation or evaluated methodological aspect to the manuscript. The deadline for submitted manuscripts is 31st August 2020 to allow for expedited peer review with a view to a collected publication issue in quarter four of 2020.

Authors should indicate 'COVID19' at the top (or header) of the submitted manuscript if you wish for your submission to be included in the special call issue of Pharmacy Education (following peer review).
